Heartbreaking: TD Garden Evacuated After Fire Alarm Following Celtics Playoff Loss

In a dramatic turn of events at TD Garden on Wednesday night, a fire alarm prompted the evacuation of the arena shortly after the Boston Celtics’ narrow 91-90 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., approximately an hour after the game’s conclusion.

The alarm sounded during the postgame press conference, interrupting Knicks players Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson as they addressed the media. Hart notably reacted to the alarm, asking, “No one else is worried about that?” before the evacuation was initiated.

Emergency responders, including the Boston Fire Department, arrived promptly. Reports indicated a fire in an elevator within the arena, leading to the precautionary evacuation of all attendees, including media personnel and staff.

TD Garden officials released a statement confirming the evacuation and noted that the cause of the fire alarm is under investigation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the all-clear was given later that evening, allowing personnel to re-enter the building.

The incident added to an already tense evening for Celtics fans, as the team squandered a 20-point lead, allowing the Knicks to secure a comeback victory and take a 2-0 series lead.

As the series shifts to New York for Game 3, the Celtics face the challenge of overcoming both the playoff deficit and the unsettling events that unfolded at their home arena.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety protocols in large venues and the need for swift action in response to potential emergencies.
