Good News: Kendrick Lamar Matches The Beatles, Taylor Swift And Drake…

For reasons beyond his position atop the chart, Kendrick Lamar has a stranglehold on this week’s Hot 100. This isn’t the first time the rapper has topped Billboard’s chart for most-played songs in the United States; in fact, he currently occupies all three spots.

As far as Billboard is concerned, the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer is one of only four artists in American history to have occupied the top three spots on the Hot 100 several times.

His appearances at the Grammys and the Super Bowl demonstrate not just his great popularity but also the power of being a part of the most successful artists of all time. This week, “Not Like Us” rockets all the way to the top of the Hot 100, where it has remained for the past three nonconsecutive frames.

“Luther,” a collaboration between Lamar and SZA, reaches its highest position at No. 2. While Lefty Gunplay is featured on “TV Off,” the show moves up one spot from No. 10 to No. 3, falling just short of its previous highest performance.

Lamar regained full possession of the top three spots on the Hot 100 only a short time ago. As his new album GNX came out in December 2024, he dominated with “Squabble Up,” “TV Off,” and “Luther,” which rose to Nos. 1 and 3, respectively.

The Beatles hold the record for most times among all acts to top the Hot 100 by occupying the top three slots. For five weeks in 1964, the British rockers were at the very top, if not higher. Nobody else in the arts world would be able to pull this off for decades.

Drake became a member of The Beatles after three consecutive appearances in the top three spots on the Hot 100. He began competing in 2021 and finished 2023 with a respectable showing. When it comes to this, Drake and Taylor Swift are neck and neck; on three separate occasions, Swift has had the top three songs in the US.

She performed this for the first time in 2022 and was able to add to her ever-expanding list of performances only last year. An acknowledgment is due to Ariana Grande, who was formerly able to hold the top three spots on the Hot 100 as well.

The singer has only done it once so far, so she isn’t officially part of the group that includes Drake, Lamar, The Beatles, and Swift; nevertheless, whenever she releases new songs, she has the potential to become the fifth act to do so.
